Message from Mary - Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year
Mary Gordon

Dear ,

A very warm welcome back and a big thank you for your contribution in helping children find a sense of belonging in their classroom.

As we move into the school year of 2024-2025, children around the world are more dysregulated and needing more mental health supports than ever before. The main anchor in children’s lives in unsettled times is often their school. Schools provide a stabilizing, unifying and very often very reassuring framework and are the backdrop of childhood. Roots of Empathy is confident that we can support children to be able to be able to talk about how they feel and to build their self-empathy and empathy for others thus helping them navigate their world from a position of wellbeing and positive mental health.

Roots of Empathy has received acknowledgements and awards recognizing our successes, most notably by HundrED, a global education non-profit based in Finland which, for the sixth consecutive year, selected Roots of Empathy as one of the top global impactful and scalable innovations in education. This year we have been spotlighted by HundrEd as one of the top programs from around the world to support children’s mental health and wellbeing. We invite you to learn more Roots of Empathy’s impact around the world by visiting our website at https://rootsofempathy.org/ and visit us on social media @rootsofempathy.

We are excited to once again roll out the Green Blanket and welcome our Tiny Teachers into schools for the 2024-25 school year. Roots of Empathy is prepared to support children through the challenges ahead by giving them the tools to help understand, identify, and talk about their own feelings.

With appreciation,
Mary

Chère/Cher ,

Bienvenue!

Mary

Dear ,

On Oct 26th, Roots of Empathy was selected as one of the top four most inspiring education innovations in the world, and the only North America program for 2023! I am so pleased to share this honour with you, as you are a huge part of the success of Roots of Empathy reaching and helping children.

HundrED, who has honoured us for the past 5 years in a row as part of their 100 innovative education programs, has now inducted Roots of Empathy into their Hall of Fame – an honour that puts us in another category.

Roots of Empathy Inducted in HundrED Hall of Fame

To be part of this new category as part of their HundrED Global Collections release, ROE had to continuously demonstrate sustained impact and scalability, and provide evidence of being responsive to the current needs in education worldwide over the last five years. Fantastic recognition from an organization that seeks to promote "innovative, impactful and scalable approaches" that "help our children flourish in life" and that can be spread across the world; and whose discerning Academy members include academics, educators, innovators, funders, and leaders from countries around the world.

Please enjoy and share this wonderfully affirming news - feel the intrinsic pride of your work and dedication that is the global recognition of all our impact. We invite you to share the news with your networks.
